What I find so great about attending fashion events is that everyone is as narcissistic as I am. At PARKshow, there was no Iphone camera left unturned for a selfie and no reflection opportunity left un-noticed. And, for good reason. I don’t know if I have ever witnessed so many people with great style in one room in Calgary. Genuinely curious if these people are hiding out of most the time, or if Calgarians only feel comfortable dressing well in arts environments… where they wont be scoffed at by the engineers in khakis who dominate the Calgary corporate scene. (No offense engineers, I appreciate and love you all the same).
This event is like seeing a dog walk on its hind legs, a rare yet precious moment in time where people in YYC unite and talk about different kinds of pumps, for once.
PARKshow, according to their website, is a fashion show and art exhibition initiative featuring local designers and professional artists who share a common, high-end target market.
Needless to say I will be back next year and I highly encourage anyone in Calgary to check out this fantastic event, if only to test your front row etiquette (remember you are guaranteed going to end up in someone’s Instagram post) for when you get to hit up fashion week in Paris or New York. We can all dream can’t we?
Below are some photos that I took of the event, in no particular order.
